Do you feel a burning sensation in your stomach? This is caused by excessive acid produced by the gastric glands in the stomach. The acid is vital for the digestive process. However, it can be a danger if the stomach produces excessive volume of acid than what is required. This leads to a case of heartburn.

Heartburn is a burning sensation felt between the stomach and the chest. This is also known as acid reflux, when the oesophageal sphincter muscle is not functioning properly in preventing acid from shooting up into the oesophagus. The sufferer often experiences a sour sensation along the oesophagus, bloating, gas, nausea and even shortness of breath. Frequent experiences of heartburn can lead to chronic cases of Laryngitis, Pharyngitis and Bronchitis. If left untreated, repeated flow of acid through the oesophagus can also injure and scar the cells lining, and even lead to cancer later in life.

There are many natural remedies to relieve the condition. This article will however focus on the use of potato juice. Potatoes contain many vitamins and nutrients that are beneficial to one’s health. They contain alkali-producing mineral nutrients, which is invaluable for stomach and intestinal disorders. Its juice helps normalise the excessive acid production in the stomach. Potato starch is often administered as an anti-inflammatory for gastrointestinal diseases. Apart from that, potatoes have also been proven beneficial in preventing kidney and heart diseases, curing acne and pimples as well as preventing the spread of cancer cells.

Research on the impact of potato juice with lowering acidity level has been conducted all around the world, including universities in Germany and Australia. It was concluded that the vegetable is indeed effective in relieving symptoms related to gastritis.

The treatment is simple. Peel 2 medium-sized potatoes, and rinse them. You can use either a juice-blender, or even grate the potatoes fine enough that you can squeeze the juice.

You require around 4 Tbsp of raw potato juice. The juice is to be consumed IMMEDIATELY after juicing it. It is ideal to carry out this treatment on an empty stomach in the mornings, 30 minutes before food. The taste may be bad, but you will get accustomed to it after some days. Repeat the treatment for 10 days, and you will begin to feel the pain in the stomach disappearing.

It is preferable that you drink the potato juice on its own. However, for those who really cannot bear its pungent taste, add a little bit of honey to the juice.

Just wanna drop a note to say that this really worked! Recently, I was experiencing a burning sensation and pain around the abdominal area. The symptoms were agonizing. I tried this for exactly 10 days on an empty stomach. It didn't seem to be working for the first 3 days, but on the 4th day, I noticed that the burning sensation was greatly reduced. After one week, the pain stopped and the burning sensation was completely gone. There are other articles out there giving the same tip of using potato juice, but I've found this was the most informative and straight forward one.

I will give you a comment. Solanins and similar glycoalkaloids. Especially solanin causes apoptosis of cells, but has much easier job with sick cells, than healthy ones. Success depends on the quantity of solanin, read potatoe juice, digested every day and the duration of using. It needs time as well as sensible dosage.

At least 2dcl per day of stored potatoes or fairly higher dose of new potatoes. It starts to be poisonous at a fair few liters per day, as long as one assures, that shoots, which are very, very high in solanin content, are removed. Sensible dosage in potatoe juice is rather hard to overdo, as long as there are no shoots on the potatoe. Long stored potatoes may have up to 5x the content of solanin, the main anti - microbial, viral, parasitic and fungi properties. In other words, it is a poison to just about any insect, fungus, bacteria, parasite and virus and since potatoe has used it for millenia, it is not exactly anything these critter can get used to easilly, like it happens with antibiotics etc. We are talking here about potatoe immune system defense which you may borrow.

There i no mystery behind it, only one hell of a lot of obfuscation from just about all common sources.

I have been drinking potatoes juice with a litle piece of cabbage and has been helping me but when i stopped drinking the symptoms came back. I used it for more than two weeks, my question is, is it safe to drink it for more than a month? Please help

  6. @Edna: Hello there. It is safe to drink potato juice to treat stomach acidity as it is natural. The best option would of course be to use organic potatoes. Try to do away with the cabbage and for those suffering from stomach acidity, it is best to do away with cow's milk, tea and coffee. Drinking Soymilk is the best option for GERD sufferers. Hope this helps. (Admin)

I have been drinking this organic potato juice every morning for almost 3 weeks now. I had been going through the worst acid reflux of my life, after having some food poisoning over Christmas, when I threw up several times. I was to the point where I was having panic attacks in the car, due to the intense pain. I can't believe how well this potato juice has been working! My symptoms are almost completely gone! I always use organic potatoes, and drink it right away in the morning. I am so glad I have finally found a solution!

What do you think about juicing beets, carrots, potatoes, and apples? I have acid reflux and I'm dealing with hair loss.

  11. Hello @Angela Rocque. Try this potato juice method for your acid reflux. You can also use Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) for the problem, which can also aid hair loss problems. Applying coconut oil or castor oil on your scalp can also promote hair growth.

  12. Unknown says:

Did u do it before every meal or just in the morning? I have that burning pain mostly at night :(

  13. It is best to do it every morning on an empty stomach. Wait for 30 minutes to 1 hour before consuming any food.
